Bishopbriggs Town Centre Development

Bishopbriggs Town Centre Development

As you may know, Muse Developments have submitted an application to East Dunbartonshire to redevelop Bishopbriggs Town Centre. It is vitally important that we get the most out of this redevelopment and ensure that the people of Bishopbriggs get what they want from the new plans. I have been involved in the consultation process from the beginning, and I am currently campaigning to ensure that the developers leave the sports hall on the former Bishopbriggs Academy site standing so that it can be run for community use. I have prepared a Q&A on the town centre development, which also explains some of the actions I have taken on this issue.

Lower Kilmardinny Development

Like most of the people of MIlngavie and Bearsden, I am opposed to the proposals put forward by CALA Management and Stewart Milne Holdings for a new development at Kilmardinny. Since the Scottish Government Reporter published her Notice of Intention in April 2009 which stated that she is "minded to allow" the development to go ahead, I have been actively campaigning to put a stop to it. Please click below to find out more about my action on the Lower Kilmardinny Development Project.

HMP Low Moss

HMP Low Moss

I am delighted that the Scottish Prison Service has decided to keep the name HMP Low Moss for the new prison in Bishopbriggs. Everyone who worked long and hard on this issue should be congratulated, and I am grateful to everyone who contributed to my campaign. However, the new prison is still under construction, and I will remain involved and keep you informed of further developments.

East Dunbartonshire Council boundaries

East Dunbartonshire Council Boundaries

The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland has proposed changes to the boundary between East Dunbartonshire Council area and Glasgow City Council area at Princes Gate, Greenacres by Robroyston. The move they are suggesting would mean 42 houses, or 99 people currently residing in East Dunbartonshire joining Glasgow City. Understandably, the people who would be affected by the move are unhappy about these proposals, and I am fully supporting their campaign to prevent the boundary changes. Here you can read more about the proposals and the actions I have taken to prevent the boundaries being moved.

Save Our Post Offices

Save Our Post Offices

The Post Office network has suffered systematic neglect at the hands of our Labour Government and the Conservative Governments that preceded it. It has reached the point of needing major investment and reinvigoration if the closure of many thousands of Post Offices that is expected in the years to come is to be avoided.

Here you can read about my actions to support our local Post Offices in East Dunbartonshire, including the successful campaign to save Bishopbriggs Post Office and the campaign to save Post Offices in Auchinairn, Killermont, Courthill and Westerton.

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
