Jo Swinson is just 2601 votes behind Tony Blair's man in East Dunbartonshire. With your help, Jo can become the next MP for East Dunbartonshire.
Unlike the Conservatives who receive many large donations from big businesses and multi-millionaires, the Liberal Democrats mainly rely on our members and supporters for funding. With thousands of supporters across the country each making a small donation, we raise our funds to pay for leaflets, newspapers and campaigning.
This means the donations the Conservatives and Labour receive from big business and trade unions gives them far more to spend than we do. The Electoral Commission's register of donations to political parties for the third quarter of 2004 shows that Labour received £3.7 million, compared to £2.4 million received by the Conservatives and £915,523 received by the Liberal Democrats.
Just £20 would pay for 1,000 leaflets to deliver to voters across the area. For £100, we could order 400 more posters for use during the election campaign. And for £250, we could add a new targetted mailing into our campaign schedule to remind voters of how Tony Blair's Government has let them down.
Whatever you can afford, your donation would be used to make a real difference to the campaign. Please support our campaign with a donation today - either by using the links below to make a donation on-line with your dredit or debit card via Paypal, or by sending a cheque payable to "East DunbartonshireLiberal Democrats" to Jo Swinson, 20 Keystone Quadrant, Milngavie, G62 6LL. Thank you!
At each election, many people fully intend to vote but then end up busy on pollling day and don't get the chance to make their voice heard. To beat Labour at the next General Election in East Dunbartonshire, Jo Swinson and the Liberal Democrats will need every single vote possible.
Make sure your vote and voice is heard by making sure you are on the register, and applying for a postal vote. Every elector is entitled to vote by post, and your ballot paper will be sent to you around 2 weeks before polling day, with clear instructions and a reply paid envelope. You can vote at home, and return your vote before polling day - otherwise it's so easy to forget!
If you are a registered elector in East Dunbartonshire, you can register to vote by post using the link below - your completed request is then sent directly to the Election Returning Officer. If you are not sure if you are on the electoral register and entitled to vote, you can either use the link below to register, or call East Dunbartonshire Council Electoral Registration helpline on 0141 562 1200.
Register today to help us! By registering on this web site, you can sign up for our FREE email news digest service (updating you with the latest news from Jo Swinson and the Liberal Democrats locally) and campaign updates. By keeping in touch with what we are doing directly, you get the news from our campaign first.
You can also register to help our campaign in other ways. A good display of posters across the area will demonstate that the Liberal Democrats stand a great chance here - sign up for a window or garden poster (stake board) for the Liberal Democrats at the next election.
Our campaign depends on volunteers, specifically to help us get our message out to voters, and to encourage all of those who want to see Labour beaten to vote on polling day. Please register today if you can spare a little time each month to deliver leaflets, if you could help on General Election polling day to remind people to vote, or if you could do some clerical work from home such as stuffing envelopes or phoning supporters.
Finally, please register to tell us that you will be voting for Jo Swinson and the Liberal Democrats to beat Labour at the General Election - your support will be warmly welcomed.
