Community sets out ‘a store that’s right for Milngavie’

Jo has welcomed a list setting out the community's key concerns about the redevelopment of Tesco Milngavie.
Drawn up by 12 community groups including We Like Milngavie, residents associations and local traders, the list follows Tesco's recent claim that they want to 'deliver a store that's right for Milngavie'.
The community document points out that an appropriate redeveloped store would not involve a significant increase in current size, and such a building should blend in with its settings, including the historic Gavin's Mill.
Commenting, Jo said:
"Tesco have wasted no time in submitting notice of their new application, so it is great to see community groups setting out what 'a store that's right for Milngavie' really means.
"It is now essential that Tesco make a genuine and meaningful effort to reflect the community's views in their plans, ensuring that any redevelopment of their Milngavie store has the unique character of the town and its historic surrounding at its heart."
