Jo congratulates local student on award to aid youth culture

UNLtd Sport Relief awarded Andrew Ashworth £1,000 to combat misconceptions of youth culture.
Andrew won the £1000 from UNLtd Sport relief, funded by Comic Relief for 11 to 21 year olds to help his fellow BMX riders to find a place to ride in Bishopbriggs without causing nuisance to locals. The award will help local young people find an appropriate place to ride their BMX bikes, activity which can help young people to relieve stress, get some exercise and have fun.
Jo has also congratulated East Dunbartonshire Cycle Co-op on its help supporting the creation of a Youth Bike Club where young people can ride without getting in the way of others.
Commenting, Jo said:
"The vast majority of young people do not want to cause a nuisance to other people, but unfortunately there are many misconceptions about youth in our society. Andrew's efforts to change those perceptions are very welcome, and hopefully will also give young people somewhere to enjoy their spare time and get some exercise at the same time. East Dunbartonshire Cycle Co-op is, as always, doing a fantastic job of supporting young people and getting them on their bikes. Congratulations to Andrew and to the Cycle Co-op on what they have achieved."
