Jo takes East Dunbartonshire's message to Downing Street

November 12, 2009 10:42 AM

Jo outside number 10 Downing Street with the 350 treeJo this week took 350 messages on climate change from the people of East Dunbartonshire to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street.

As part of an international climate change campaign organised by 350.org, Jo has gathered exactly 350 messages for Gordon Brown from people all over East Dunbartonshire, calling on him to aim for an ambitious deal at the international conference on climate change in Copenhagen in December.

Those messages were written on leaves which were attached to a special 350.org campaign tree, which Jo yesterday delivered to 10 Downing Street. The leaves included messages from Brownies, Rainbows and Guides in Bishopbriggs, and pupils at the High School of Glasgow and Atholl Prep School, as well as those collected from local people at The Hub at Woodhill Evangelical Church and Bearsden Burgh Hall on the 350.org international day of action on 24th October.

Commenting, Jo said:

"I'd like to thank everyone who supported the 350 campaign and gave me their messages for Gordon Brown, including all of the Brownies, Rainbows and Guides, pupils at the High School of Glasgow and Atholl Prep School, and everyone who came down to The Hub and Bearsden Burgh Hall on the international day of action to put leaves on the 350 tree.

"I have posted a short film on my website about the campaign, including my trip to Downing Street, and I will keep everyone who has written messages to the Prime Minister updated as to his response."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
