East Dunbartonshire's climate message to PM

Jo collected messages to the Prime Minister from people all over East Dunbartonshire over the weekend to mark the 350 international day of climate action.
The day of action, which took place on Saturday, was co-ordinated by 350.org, calling on governments to listen to the demands of science when they meet in Copenhagen in December to negotiate an international deal on climate change action. More than 5,200 events took place in 181 countries around the world to mark the day.
On Friday, was the special guest at a High School of Glasgow Junior School assembly, where pupils wrote messages to the Prime Minister, which the school's Eco Committee then hung on Jo's special 350 tree. In the evening she visited Bishopbriggs Brownies, where she spoke about the 350 campaign and collected messages from Rainbows, Brownies and Guides to hang on the 350 tree.
On Saturday, Jo collected messages from people around East Dunbartonshire, including stints at The Hub at Woodhill Evangelical Church and Bearsden Burgh Hall which saw many local people bringing messages for Gordon Brown.
Commenting, Jo said:
"I was very impressed with the knowledge and conviction displayed by many of the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and the High School of Glasgow pupils in their messages to the Prime Minister. I will be delivering them to Downing Street as soon as possible.
"I was also very pleased that so many people came to The Hub and Bearsden Burgh Hall on Saturday to give me their messages for Gordon Brown. I have received lots of letters and postcards from constituents about the Copenhagen conference, and it is clear that the people of East Dunbartonshire feel strongly that the Prime Minister should aim for an ambitious deal on climate change in December."
The number 350 represents parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere.
