Jo commends local lottery success

August 21, 2009 10:58 AM

Jo has welcomed the news that Clober Primary PTA and Westerton Nursery have been awarded grants from the Big Lottery Fund.

Clober Primary Parent Teacher Association has received £8,531 from the 'Awards for All' scheme to purchase outdoor play equipment in order to increase physical activity of children out of school hours. The project meets the Awards for All aim of 'Helping groups to become better organised'. The award will fund the costs of a Trim trail exercise circuit and safety mat tiles.

Westerton Nursery has received a £10,000 grant to develop an outdoor play garden for the benefit of the children attending the group and the general users of the community hall, which will further the Awards for All aim of 'Improving quality of life'. The money will cover labour costs for the preparation of the site, creation of a soft play area, hire of machinery and disposal of surplus soil.

Commenting, Jo said:

"I'm thrilled that these organisations in Milngavie and Bearsden have been successful in securing these grants. Both projects promise to help local children to lead active, healthy lives in improve their wellbeing. Well done to everyone at Clober Primary and Westerton Nursery who helped to secure these awards and I look forward to seeing the play areas once they're completed."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
