Jo supports Help for Heroes day

August 18, 2009 3:29 PM

Jo with fundraisersJo attended a Help for Heroes fun day at Burnbrae on Sunday to show her support for wounded soldiers.

The family fun day was held to raise money for Help for Heroes, a national charity which provides support for British soldiers wounded on the battlefield. It was organised by the Burnbrae pub, Premier Inn hotel and supported by Bearsden Community Council.

Members of the armed forces were present in great numbers, and the attractions included tanks, fire engines, support vehicles, football and paintball, as well as live music.

Commenting, Jo said:

"The Help for Heroes day was lots of fun and I'm thrilled that it raised more than £3000 for such a good cause. I chatted to soldiers who had served in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as Sierra Leone and Kosovo, and everyone was in good spirits. Well done to everyone at the Burnbrae and the Premier Inn who put in all that effort to organise a great day and give something back to our brave men and women who have given so much for this country."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
