Tribute to Provost Alex Hannah

April 15, 2009 5:49 PM

East Dunbartonshire Provost and Councillor Alex Hannah sadly passed away on Easter Sunday after a long battle with cancer. Books of condolence have been opened at Tom Johnston House in Kirkintilloch and the Triangle Centre in Bishopbriggs.

Responding to the sad news, Jo said:

"Alex's passing is a huge loss to the people of Bishopbriggs, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family at this difficult time. Alex drew respect from across the political spectrum, and he will be remembered for his kind manner, good nature and the dedication with which he served as Councillor for 14 years, and more recently as Provost. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him."

The Provost's body will be received at St Dominic's Church at 6pm on Thursday 16th April 16. The Requiem Mass will be held at 9.30am on Friday in St Dominic's followed by a cremation service at Maryhill Crematorium.

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
