Jo's Moonwalk bid has raised over £400 for charity

Jo Swinson was one of 15,000 enthusiastic women and men who donned elaborately decorated bras to take part in the 11th annual MoonWalk on Saturday night.

Jo, who raised £420 for breast cancer charities by taking part in the event, joined with a cross-party group of 8 MPs for the 13 mile moonlit walk.

Jo said:

"This year's MoonWalk event was great fun, and was carried out in great spirits by the 15,000 participants. With the number of walkers increasing each year and the event aiming to raise £6million for breast cancer causes, the MoonWalk is now a welcome fixture in the fundraising calendar.

"I am extremely grateful to those who sponsored my walk and helped me reach a fundraising total of £420. If people still wish to contribute to my fundraising for breast cancer charities, they can do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/joswinson."

Since 1996, more than 160,000 passionate Power Walkers have walked over three million miles for Walk the Walk - the equivalent of trekking to the moon and back more than six times. Over the past 11 years, the MoonWalk has raised in excess of £40 million for vital breast cancer causes.

Nina Barough CBE, Founder and Chief Executive of the charity commented:

"Walk the Walk are very exciting to be entering the second decade of The Playtex MoonWalk in London. In the past 10 years we have been able to make an important contribution to the lives of people with breast cancer and have encouraged many to lead healthier lifestyles as a form of preventive health. We have ambitious plans for the future, so watch this space! "

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
