Jo reveals survey findings to Council chiefs

December 20, 2007 11:34 AM

Jo Swinson has revealed preliminary findings of her Bishopbriggs town centre survey, in a meeting with East Dunbartonshire Council Chief Executive Sue Bruce.

The survey has been underway in Bishopbriggs since July, with over 600 responses having been received.

Following the meeting held today to discuss town centre development, Jo commented:

"Today's meeting was a useful update on redevelopment of Bishopbriggs town centre. It was also an opportunity to present the preliminary findings of my town centre survey to the Council's Chief Executive.

"The survey results show a huge majority of people, 94%, are in favour of retaining the sports hall in its current location. Further, 87% of people want to see a high quality food retailer in the town centre.

"A full report on the survey will be presented in the New Year, at which point I will also seek a meeting with developers Muse (Formerly Amec) to discuss the findings with them. We have a unique opportunity to redevelop Bishopbriggs town centre, which should be a top priority for all stakeholders."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
