Jo praises democratic ethos at St Joseph's

September 3, 2007 4:38 PM

Jo Swinson praised the ethos of democracy at St Joseph's Primary in Milngavie today, as she welcomed the recently elected pupil council members to their new roles during a visit to the school.

Jo addressed pupils at the school's first assembly of the new term, presenting attendance certificates and giving a warm welcome to the new Primary 1 class.

Commenting after the visit, Jo said:

"Elections were recently held to the pupil council at St Joseph's Primary and today I was pleased to be able to welcome the new pupil council members to their new roles.

"I reminded the pupils that they had an important job to do in representing and giving a voice to their fellow pupils in the school, similar to the job I carry out on behalf of the people of East Dunbartonshire.

"The ethos of democracy is clearly alive and well at St Joseph's, which is very pleasing to see among pupils of such a young age."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
