Business Gateway closures unacceptable

July 24, 2007 5:47 PM

Jo Swinson has responded with concern to reports that the Business Gateway offices in East Dunbartonshire are to close.

Commenting on the news that planned changes to small business support services in Dunbartonshire will see 4 out of the current 5 Business Gateway offices close, with only one premises, Clydebank, remaining, Jo said:

"Business Gateway provides a valuable support to people facing the challenges of starting up a new business. The closure of these services in East Dunbartonshire would leave an unacceptable lack of small business support.

"I am strongly opposed to any closure of this kind taking place in East Dunbartonshire. No contract should be awarded to a provider proposing such drastic cuts."

The five Business Gateway offices in Dunbartonshire currently are Clydebank, Bearsden, Kirkintilloch, Dumbarton and Helensburgh.

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
