Jo launches Christmas card competition

November 8, 2005 4:34 PM

Jo Swinson is looking for a talented young artist to provide the design for her greetings cards this Christmas.

A competition has been launched by the MP to find the best Christmas card as designed by an East Dunbartonshire young person. The competition is open to all school pupils in East Dunbartonshire and the winner will be determined by a judging panel of local community figures.

Jo has £60 of book tokens to give away to one lucky winner and two runners up. Entries for the competition must be received in Jo's constituency office by November 23rd.

Jo commented,

"The aim of the competition is to give a young artist the opportunity to show off their skills. The winning design will appear on over 400 cards, so it is certainly a chance to get noticed. I would encourage all budding artists to give it a go, and hopefully we can uncover a real talent."

Competition guidelines are as follows:

Size: No larger than A3, but must be flat

Colours: No restriction

Materials: paint, crayon, pastel, pencil, print etc, including collage if flat

The winner will receive a book token worth £30 and have their design adopted as Jo Swinson MP's official Christmas card. Two runners-up will each receive book tokens worth £15. Additionally all pupils who enter will receive a special certificate for taking part.

Entries can be designed as part of school class work or at home as an evening/weekend activity.

In order to allow time for judging, printing etc all entries must reach Jo's Constituency Office at 4 Springfield House, Emerson Road, Bishopbriggs, G64 1QE by 5pm on Wednesday 23rd November.

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
