The Kirkintilloch Job Centre Plus is now open for business

Jo Swinson MP has opened the new Job Centre Plus in Kirkintilloch at a ceremony yesterday.

The opening, which was also attended by District Manager David Collie, is a milestone for East Dunbartonshire in the roll-out of the new Job Centre Plus.

Jo commented,

"I was delighted to be asked to open the new Job Centre Plus. It is a large office with modern facilities, that should be well-equipped to help people in Kirkintilloch and the wider East Dunbartonshire area. From speaking to staff at the opening, I got the impression of a friendly, well-trained group who were looking forward to providing a more integrated service in the new offices. I commend their hard work and dedication."

Jo opened the centre along with Personal Adviser Roberta Morrison, who is involved with finding vacancies for 18-24 year olds.

With around 700 people on the unemployed register in the Kirkintilloch/Bishopbriggs area, Kirkintilloch Job Centre Plus will deliver a full range of integrated services.

These include assistance in finding employment, entering training programmes and seeking funding for those stating work.

Margaret Wilson, Business Manager of the new Job Centre Plus, commented,

"We are thrilled to have the new office up and running and to offer a whole new range of services as Job Centre Plus. We hope to work closely with the community to get local people into local jobs. We are delighted with the support we have had from Jo Swinson, who has been so positive with all the staff about the new centre."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
