Jo at the Make Poverty History March, July 2nd

Jo Swinson MP was among the 225,000 people marching in Edinburgh on Saturday to Make Poverty History.

Local organisations from East Dunbartonshire joined groups and individuals from across Scotland, the UK and the world to stage the largest ever single protest in Scotland.

The marchers formed a white band around Scotland's capital, calling for fair trade, dropping the debt and more and better aid for the world's poorest countries.

Jo Swinson commented, "The atmosphere was very positive, with so many people uniting for a common purpose. I hope the G8 leaders will listen to the message - we have the wealth ad technology to make poverty history, all we need now is the political will.

Jo continued, " East Dunbartonshire was well represented; I was marching alongside constituents from Milngavie, Bearsden and Torrance, and I know there were many other local people there that came in coaches from Bishopbriggs, Bearsden and Milngavie."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
