Transport Minister Nicol Stephen is backing Jo Swinson in her bid to win East Dunbartonshire on 5 May

Jo Swinson's campaign was given a boost today when Nicol Stephen came to her East Dunbartonshire constituency.

First stop was the new McCarthy & Stone development at Bishopbriggs Cross where Jo and Nicol, accompanied by Depute Provost Cathy McInnes and local Councillor Margaret MacNaughton, shared a morning cuppa with around sixty new residents.

The residents asked many questions particularly on the issue of transport since Nicol is Transport Minister for Scotland.

Later on in the visit Nicol had the opportunity to visit Milngavie Train station to personally see our end of the Larkhall / Milngavie line and to discuss the future of the line with local people.

The visit was rounded up with a look at the site of the new leisure facility and swimming pool at Woodhead Park, Kirkintilloch. Nicol and Jo also took time to look at the plans for Kirkintilloch's Initiative and to see where the new link road will join the town.

After being interviewed by the press Nicol was waved off by Jo who continued another successful round of canvassing.

"It was great to have the support, yet again, of Nicol in my campaign." Said Jo. "This campaign has really fired the imaginations of all our MP and MSP visitors."

If you are a resident of the East Dunbartonshire constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.

    • If you agree, Jo Swinson, the Liberal Democrats, and their elected representatives may use the information you provide to contact you about issues you may find of interest. Some of the contacts may be automated. You can opt out of these contacts at any time by contacting us.
