Jim Wallace MSP: "The Lib Dems can win East Dunbartonshrie from Labour."
Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader, Jim Wallace MSP, today tipped East Dunbartonshire as a potential Lib Dem gain at the General Election, at the launch of the Ten Reasons to vote Scottish Liberal Democrat which will form the core of the Party's campaign at the General Election. Local Lib Dem Jo Swinson has welcomed the Ten Reasons.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Wallace said:
"Scottish Liberal Democrats are the party with real ambition for this election. We are challenging Labour at seats across Scotland. And in our top five target seats, we are making real progress. More and more people realise that in areas such as Inverness, Aberdeen South, Edinburgh South, East Dunbartonshire and Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, only Liberal Democrats can beat Tony Blair's Labour. Swings ranging from as little as 1 per cent to 7.5 per cent would secure each one of these top target seats for Liberal Democrats.
Commenting, Jo Swinson said: "Polls show that more and more people are supporting the Liberal Democrats. 1,000 more police in our communities, £100 more every month for older pensioners and massive investment in Scotland's children are some of the reasons why. Here in East Dunbartonshire, these policies are proving very popular."
Jim Wallace stressed that the Liberal Democrats are the Real Alternative to Tony Blair's Labour Party at Westminster, and the only party in Scotland with Real Ambition for this election. He outlined how the Party's success in Scotland is a platform for greater success across the UK.
