Local MP Jo Swinson's latest e-consultation has found that a clear majority of local respondents are against independence for Scotland. The results show that of 500 respondents 35% were in favour of Scottish independence while 65% were against.
In order to see how the wording of the question affected responses, two different questions were asked. One group was asked "Do you agree that Scotland should be an independent country?", the same question the SNP have said they would like to see on the ballot paper at the proposed referendum in 2014. The second group was asked "Do you support or oppose Scotland becoming a country independent from the rest of the United Kingdom?", which is the question most commonly being asked in opinion polls on the subject. Both groups were overwhelmingly against independence, with no statistically significant difference in the answers for the two different questions.

Jo Swinson local MP for East Dunbartonshire has written to the General Manager of Arnold Clark in Bishopbriggs about the parking situation on streets surrounding their store. Ms. Swinson has been contacted by several constituents who are appealing for something to be done.
Residents have claimed that Arnold Clark staff use Kirkintilloch Road, Coltpark Avenue, Coltpark Lane and Stuart Drive to park their cars during the day, often preventing access to driveways and residential streets. They have even noted instances where the Council's waste collection trucks are unable to pick up rubbish due to this problem.
Arnold Clark has responded that they are now using their compound on Crowhill Road to store some of their vehicles, freeing up some parking for staff.
Commenting Jo said:
"I fully understand the concerns of people in the area andsympathise with residents fed up with never being able to park outside their own homes.
"Local residents are rightly angry at the careless parking of a small minority of people and I would ask people who park inconsiderately not to do so.
"I hope the measures taken by Arnold Clark willlead to improvements but the proof will be in residents' experiences."
